Living in Bahrain

The Kingdom of Bahrain offers a unique lifestyle, with a friendly, cosmopolitan flair that is family oriented. Having long been the meeting place for traders between East and West, Bahrain is well known for its hospitality and its natural, smiling welcome to all its visitors.

Home to multiple nationalities and ethnic groups, Bahrain offers a modern high standard of living while maintaining traditional values with a local flavour. Bahrainis and Expatriates are closely integrated in both their social lives as well as their business environment.

Education is an integral part of Bahrain’s society, and as such, the education system meets the highest world standards. Numerous international educational institutions and schools have established links to Bahrain, providing a variety of Western and Middle Eastern curriculums.

In February 2001, under the direction of His Majesty King Hamad Bin Isa Bin Salman Al Khalifa, Bahrain, a constitutional hereditary monarchy, voted into legislation by an overwhelming majority of 98.4%, the National Action Charter.

The charter gives equal rights to men and women, with all citizens having equal political rights and being entitled to elections and candidacy according to the law. The constitution was also amended to achieve complete independence from the Financial Control Bureau, and to facilitate its monitoring role.

The growing economy of Bahrain offers many benefits to its workforce including no personal income wealth or capital gains taxes.
